Are you affiliated to the National Organisation – Pétanque England (PE)?

– YES – the club pays its annual membership fee to PE, which in return delivers many of the benefits described in other answers. At a regional level it belongs to the Heart of England Region of PE

Will I have to take out individual PE membership?

– NO – you will be fully insured by the club’s PE membership whilst playing at the club. However, if you want to play elsewhere, e.g., when on holiday, then you may decide it’s advantageous to, and safer for you to take out your own PE membership

What are the benefits of PE insurance?

– Club insurance covers you against any damage or injury that you may cause or may be caused to you whilst playing pétanque at the club.
– Individual insurance covers you against any damage or injury that you may cause or may be caused to you anywhere in the world whilst playing pétanque.

In addition to the insurance benefits of the club being a PE member what other advantages are there?

– PE and Regional officers provide help and support regarding how to grow the club e.g., increase its membership, attract new and younger players
– The club can access both the national and regional playing calendars so it can participate in competitions with other clubs if it so desires
– PE and Regional officers will help the club to set up and run its own competitions if it wants e.g., playing against other clubs in the Region for fun

How is Penkridge Pétanque committee structured?

– The committee consists of minimally the three “officers” (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) as required by PE, and usually three other members
– Of these only the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer must be PE members
– Outside of these six, other members of the club are co-opted to the committee as necessary
– The committee uses all the “model” documents issued by PE e.g., Constitution and other such policies, to ensure compliance with best practice

How inclusive is the club?

– The club is fully inclusive. As a game pétanque can be played by everyone, irrespective of age. PE supports both male and female teams internationally.
– You can be a member of as many pétanque clubs as you want.

How do you stay in touch?

– The club uses Facebook, WhatsApp, email and the website (penkridgepetanque.co.uk) to keep in touch.

If I join the club do I have to enter competitions or travel to other clubs?

– NO – the decision regarding how much you participate and where is completely down to you. You need never leave Penkridge if you don’t want 🙂 However, to enable you to play pétanque anywhere in the world with confidence the club does abide by and play to the international rules of the game.
